ATP Dubai Championship The ATP Dubai is a common event in the professional tennis calender. The tournament is hosted by the United Arab Emirates. It is played on outdoor hard courts and features 32 players on the main draw.

In 2010 the ATP Dubai is scheduled during the 8th Week of the season. It starts on February 22 and ends Sunday, February 21.

This year’s defending trophy holder is Serbian, Novak Djokovic. Djokovic will try to defend his 500 ATP points to maintain a solid 2nd spot in the ATP rankings, obtained right at the end of the 2010 Australian Open.

Roger Federer and other important stars like Rafael Nadal and Andy Roddick have pulled out of this year’s ATP Dubai Championship. The first two quit because of injuries while Roddick joined a long series of protests against the organizers, because of the Shahar Pe’er scandal.

Shahar Pe’er wasn’t allowed to compete in the WTA tournament earlier this year because of her Israeli nationality and this resulted in several protests and sanctions applied to the organizers.
